War of Independence
The war of independence was during 1775 and 1783. The war was between England, France, Spain, the Netherlands and the thirteen american colonies. It started with the Boston Tea Party, as England sent soldiers to America, to fight against their own colonies.
Declaration of Independence
In the middle of the war, on July 4th 1776, the colonies declared themselves as independent. Because the colonies were not strong enough to fight against the British army, France, Spain and the Netherlands entered the war. They helped the colonies to win the war and to become independent.
Boston Tea Party
In the course of the colonisation of North America in the 16th century, much trade was conducted between England and the colonies. Goods were usually shipped from Boston to England or received there. Companies such as the East India Trading Company profited, but a large proportion of the American settlers lived in poverty. Ongoing colonial wars against the Indians and France contributed to growing resentment within the population against British policies. The disagreement between the British government and the colonies escalated when a law was passed in England in 1765 which stipulated that the New England colonies should be taxed at an increased rate even though they were not allowed to have a single representative in the English government.
